ministry to people in the sex industry
red light project has been established for learning about , training and equipping people to minister to those trapped in the sex industry.
The first step in any ministry is to to allow God to lead and move. As we communicate with Him through prayer and in daily life my hope is that He will open hearts, minds and strip club doors!

the infamous red lights of Amsterdam.
The words "the red light district" usually bring to mind Amsterdam's notorious district where prostitution is legal and there are windows after windows or women scantly clad , waiting for the next buyer with her red light on.
While the world looks on thinking ... these women must want to be there and they have chosen this "profession."
I do not think we could be more wrong! And I do think these women as well as women , men and children all over the world who are trafficked for sex need us to befriend them , to stand up for them to defend them and show them the same unconditional love we have been shown.
But we do not have to go to Amsterdam to see sex trafficking , unfortunately it's all around us, and we have become blind and insensitive to it.
sex trafficking is in our country and in our states and more often than not in our own cities and communities. So what are we going to do and how do we do it?

what can we do?
PRAY- for those in the sex industry and for those who need to rise up and minister to them.
BE OPEN- to being a part of this ministry. And to doing things differently, may be a bit out of the "normal." (going to a strip club and befriending the dancers.)
LEARN-from God and from other groups that are doing ministries like this. (not reinventing the wheel) AND to learn who we are and our need to love and be loved.

red light district, by alyee willits
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial "outside agitator" idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (letter from Birmingham jail)
You Are There
Though the smoke, and to the stars, and in the low lit lonely bars. Through the dusty city streets where the children try to sleep. But are sold instead not resting then in safety’s bed. And in the bitter cold
of even one man’s lonely soul…you are there—Where the sinner lends a
hand and the saint falls again and again. When the widow cries and the preacher lies. Even when the enemy lives and the new born dies…you are there. So if all I feel is numb and people seem so far away how is it you are still here in every hour of every day? In every skipped heart beat and in every cold dark street…you are there
